The Project:

Framework:

The area between Amoreiras and Chiado stands out as one of the most dynamic and innovative cultural centers of the city of Lisbon, where a great diversity of agents and cultural activities are concentrated, attracting a growing affluence of publics. In this geographic area, a group of eight museums are highlighted, distinguished by the importance and diversity of their collections, comprising various fields, from Archeology to History and History of Art, and from Fine arts to Science, designedly in the following museums: the Carmo Archeological Museum, the National Museum of Contemporary Art-Chiado Museum, the Pharmacy Museum, the National Museum of Natural History and of Science, the Geological Museum, EPAL Museum-Water House, Arpad Szenes-Vieira da Silva Museum and the Museum of São Roque. Profiting from their privileged location and their geographic proximity to each other, this conjoined project was conceived between eight museums, designated as: Step by Step with Art and Science – between Amoreiras and Chiado.

Concept:

Conceived as a circumscribed itinerary to the museums of Amoreiras/ Chiado and aimed essentially for the tourist public, it constitutes a innovative model of association of cultural agents, which will enable greater visibility to all, in the scope of the cultural offer of the city of Lisbon. This partnership represents a change of paradigm in the way cultural institutions potentiate their resources, creating greater dynamics and synergies between all agents, permitting the promotion of their collections. For the first time, different guardianships are united by Culture, Knowledge and Citizenship. Apart from articulating the cultural offer of this area, giving greater visibility to it, this project also includes a special offer in order to draw a greater number of publics, which means that with the purchase of the first full price admission fee ticket to any of these eight museums, visitors have the right to a 20 per cent discount in all the remaining museums, an offer valid for a period of 3 days.

Goals:

The conviction that together it is possible to do greater and better was the motive for this partnership, which outlined well defined goals, such as:

  1. Draw a greater number of publics.

  2. Provide greater visibility to each museum.

  3. Participate, enrich and enliven the cultural charts of the city.

  4. Conceive a creative and solidary associative model that can potentiate synergies between all and extend it to others.
