The National Museum of Natural History and Science (MUNAC) is a special place in the heart of Lisbon for education, science and culture. The museum originated from the Royal Museum of Natural History and the Botanic Garden, both created in the 18th century, where previously, since the 17th century, there were teaching institutions.

The museum has, therefore, rooms filled with history; buildings of major historic and scientific interest; and, the Botanic Garden, classified as a national monument. The Laboratório Químico and amphitheatre, the Astronomic Observatory and the old Riding Hall of the College of Nobles, are some of the historic and scientific highlights. Moreover, it preserves important collections dedicated to natural history, instruments and other scientific objects.

Apart from twenty exhibitions, visitors will find a permanent offer of educational activities, meeting, in this way, the needs of understanding Nature and Science.
